Impressive start to the athletics season

On a bright and competitive day at Radley College, Moulsford made a spirited and impressive start to the athletics season, finishing 5th overall in a very tightly contested meet – just a few points shy of a top-three finish. With 14 athletes representing the school across Years 5 and 6, the boys competed with determination, skill, and great sportsmanship throughout the day.

There were several outstanding individual performances:

  • Will L showed fantastic speed in the 80m sprint, finishing 2nd with a time of 11.31s, just 0.91s behind the winner.

  • In the Long Jump, Teddy W-J leapt to a brilliant 3.24m, securing 3rd place.

  • Max B impressed in the 150m, coming 3rd in 21.32s, before producing a remarkable jump of 4.19m to take 1st place in the Long Jump – a huge achievement.

  • Rafe C also placed 3rd in the 150m, clocking 22.47s, showing the depth of talent in Moulsford’s sprint events.

  • Barney H delivered a strong race to finish 3rd in the 600m, and then stunned the field by winning the Cricket Ball Throw with a staggering 54.73m – a new Radley meet record.

  • Perhaps the performance of the day came from Lucas R, who dominated the 600m, winning comfortably in 1:47.60, a full 4.61 seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.

The event was exceptionally well organised and greatly supported by the Moulsford community, whose encouragement trackside lifted the team throughout the day.

Mr Corbett and I are incredibly proud of all the boys who represented Moulsford with great energy and enthusiasm. This was a brilliant way to launch the athletics calendar, and we now look ahead with excitement to Sports Day and the Stourport Regionals later this term.
